The Town of Hickory Creek is excited to announce the adoption of the 2023 Comprehensive Plan. Our updated Comprehensive Plan will be used as a blueprint for the Town to achieve a future that reflects our aspirations and needs.

Adopt-A-Street is a partnership between the Town’s Public Works Department, residents, and businesses to help keep Hickory Creek clean.

The program is simple - agree to adopt a specific street and clean the street six times per year in exchange for a sign placed on the street acknowledging your commitment.

We strive to maintain a low-kill shelter. The employees and volunteers are dedicated to the welfare of animals and proud to be “The Little Shelter with a Big Heart.” It is our goal to continually review and evaluate animal protection and control issues, needs, services and facilities for the Town of Hickory Creek.

Arrowhead Park is accessed from I-35E at exit 457a on the North East end of the bridge over Lewisville Lake. After exiting off highway make quick right and proceed to Arrowhead Park entrance.

Code Compliance responds to concerns from citizens that affect the quality of life within the city such as zoning, overgrown lots or yards, inoperative vehicles, maintenance of structures, illegal signs and public nuisances. Systematic inspections are also performed throughout the town to ensure properties are in compliance with town code.

The Hickory Creek Police Department is dedicated to providing the highest level of police service to all citizens. If you would like to commend a police department employee for outstanding behavior, please let that employee know.

Road Construction Update 1-28-2025

McMahon Contracting is scheduled to start construction along Garth Lane in this area. This work will require road closures and detours to make improvements to the roadway and parkway.

Paying In Full

A plea of no contest or guilty must be entered and will result in a conviction for the offense. Payment can be submitted at the clerk’s window, by mail, call 1-800-444-1187, or pay online.

Denton County switched providers for our mass notification system. If you previously signed up for alerts using CodeRED, Nixle, or our oldest system Reverse 911, it will be necessary for you to create a new account on the Everbridge system.

Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility (No Insurance)

Show proof to the court of active insurance on the date of the citation, and after verification, citation will be presented to the Judge for dismissal with no fee.

Expired Registration

Dismissal fee of $20 may be assessed with the following required conditions:

Transportation code 521.054 states when moving to a new address or changing your name by marriage or otherwise, a person shall notify the Department of Public Safety not later than the 30th day after the date on which the change takes effect, and apply for a duplicate drivers license.

Transportation code 502.407 states after the 5th working day after the date of expired registration, a person may not operate a motor vehicle that does not properly display a valid registration insignia issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The Town of Hickory Creek is excited to Launch OurHickoryCreek, a new mobile citizen engagement application powered by GOGov. This application puts the power of town hall in the palm of your hand. The app allows residents to have a direct line of communication to request services and report issues such as potholes, graffiti and more. The app will also be a great source of information with links to the town website, news, and ongoing events.

Hickory Creek Helping Hands is looking for volunteers! This new committee will be 100% volunteer supported, driven and operated for Hickory Creek residents.

State Requirements of Juvenile Offenders

According to the laws of the State of Texas, any person 16 years of age or younger are required to appear in open court for all proceedings. The parent or legal guardian of any juvenile charged in municipal court is required to be present in court with his or her child.

Denton County will hold a public meeting on Tuesday August 23rd to gather public input for updating their Hazard Mitigation Plan.  This meeting will be held in-person at 5:30 p.m. at 1 Courthouse Drive, 3rd Floor, Conference 2020 Room, Denton, Texas, 76208.

Trash and Recycling is serviced for Hickory Creek residents every Thursday. Should a major holiday fall on a Thursday, trash and recycling will occur that Friday. Call Republic Services at 972-316-0789 for a missed pickup.

The town is excited to announce sidewalk phase 4 construction will begin this week. Work will start on Wednesday in Lakewood Gardens and this will include: updating curbs, ramps, and sidewalks and aid the ADA compliance of the neighborhood. Please be mindful of the construction crews and their equipment. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

This never seen before park is the best kept secret in Hickory Creek. Located on the west side of I-35E further west of I-35E than Point Vista Boat Ramp and south of Turbeville Road at the South end of Sycamore Bend Road. This park is open for picnics and boat ramps as of September 1, 2009. This park is leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and operated by the Town of Hickory Creek. Primitive camping is now available in Sycamore Bend Park. Campsites are $20 a night.

The Take Me Home Program is a free service offered by Hickory Creek Police Department that allows residents to register loved ones who
may have difficulty communicating with first responders.  Originally developed by the Pensacola, Florida Police Department, the program is
designed to help individuals who may need special assistance in the event they are alone or in an emergency.  By registering a loved one,
first responders will be able to quickly access their photo and information in the event they need help returning home.

• Building / Structural Violation Complaint - This includes buildings with such conditions as peeling paint, broken windows, roof damage, and/or abandoned properties.
• Commercial Vehicle Violation - Commercial vehicles, inclusive of school buses, parked in a residential zone.
• Illegal Sign Complaint - Violations include the posting of an illegal sign, improper placement of signs in the rights-of-way, attachments to utility poles or on trees, shrubs or plants.

The general municipal election is conducted each year on the first Saturday in May.  The Town Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the Town of Hickory Creek and is responsible for conducting all Town elections by the Election Code of the State of Texas.
