Town Election Information
The general municipal election is conducted each year on the first Saturday in May. The Town Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the Town of Hickory Creek and is responsible for conducting all Town elections by the Election Code of the State of Texas.
The Town of Hickory Creek Town Council is composed of a Mayor and five Councilmembers. Each Councilmember is elected at-large and represents the entire community. The Mayor and Councilmembers for Place 2 and Place 4 are elected in even numbered years. Councilmembers for Place 1, Place 3 and Place 5 are elected in odd years. All Councilmembers are elected for a two year term and are elected at-large, meaning they represent the entire Town.
Upcoming Elections
- Councilmembers Place 1, 3 and 5 will be elected on May 3, 2025.
- Mayor, Councilmembers Place 2 and 4 will be elected on May 2, 2026.
Candidate Qualifications
The following qualifications must be met to file an Application for Place on the ballot. The Town of Hickory Creek is a Type A General Law City.
- be a United States Citizen;
- be 18 years of age or older on the first fay of the term to be filled at the election;
- not have been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be (a) totally mentally incapacitated or (b) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
- not have been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities;
- Office of Mayor - have resided continuously in the state for twelve (12) months prior to the deadline for filing an application for a place on the ballot and in the city for twelve (12) months prior to the election day.
- Office of Councilmember - have resided continuously in the state for twelve (12) months prior to the deadline for filing an application for a place on the ballot and in the city for six (6) months prior to the election day.
- be a registered voter in the territory from which the office is elected as of the date of the filing deadline for a candidate’s place on the ballot.
