Animal Services Officer

The Town of Hickory Creek is accepting applications for an Animal Services Officer. Under general supervision, is responsible for providing the control, health, safety and the humane euthanasia of animals. Ability to provide a safe and sanitary environment for the temporary housing of animals by cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining animal cages, kennels, pens and runs and ensure all
are in good working condition and safe for habitation. Feed and water all shelter animals as required. Perform  humane euthanasia of animals and document required records regarding animals and drugs, properly dispose of deceased animals; properly safeguard euthanasia drugs and supplies. Remove animal heads involved in a bite for rabies specimen preparation. Respond to requests for animal related service. Issue citations for animal violations. Assist in public education relating to responsible pet ownership and animal control issues. Maintain files and related records on animal bites and other investigation reports. Enforce pertinent rabies control ordinances. Respond to emergency call outs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualified applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED;   Basic Animal Control Officer Certification and Euthanasia Certification preferred or successfully obtain certifications within six (6) months of employment. Successful applicants must submit to a background investigation and drug screen.
