Lewisville Lake Bridge Traffic Shift Scheduled Southbound Interstate 35E Traffic Will Move to New Bridge
LEWISVILLE, Texas — With the substantial completion of the new southbound Lewisville Lake bridge, 35Express crews will begin shifting traffic onto the new structure.
As this work is being performed, motorists should expect the following closures from 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 until 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10:• Various lanes of southbound I-35E between Turbeville Road and FM 407.• All lanes of the southbound I-35E frontage road between Swisher Road and Hickory Creek Road. Detours are as follows:
o Southbound I-35E traffic from Hickory Creek will take Swisher Road, travel east under the interstate, turn left onto the northbound frontage road, take the U-Turn north of Swisher Road to the southbound frontage road and take the I-35E entrance ramp.
o Southbound I-35E traffic from Lake Dallas will take Lake Dallas Drive to the northbound frontage road, through the Swisher Road intersection, take the U-Turn north of Swisher Road to the southbound frontage road and take the I-35E entrance ramp.
• The southbound frontage road between Oak Drive and Hickory Creek Road will remain open in a two-way condition during this closure
Northbound traffic is expected to begin shifting onto the new southbound bridge at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16. Once northbound traffic is on the new structure, the original bridge will close to traffic while it is reconfigured to carry northbound only traffic. Those wishing to access Lake Dallas Drive will exit near Garden Ridge Boulevard and travel over the original bridge to Lake Dallas Drive. This work is related to the 35Express project, the $1.4 billion expansion of I-35E between U.S. Highway 380 in Denton County and I-635 in Dallas County. All closures are subject to weather conditions and may be postponed, if necessary.
