Dear Falcon Community,Good afternoon! What an unprecedented time this has been as we are seeing the rapidly changing circumstances surrounding COVID-19. The leadership team at Lake Dallas ISD is committed to keeping you informed and providing continuity of services to the extent we are able through this uncertain situation. At this time we are announcing, along with neighboring school districts, the closing of all schools and facilities through Friday, April 3. Beginning March 24, the district will be transitioning to an online learning platform. Teachers and campus staff will communicate with parents and students with specific instructions at that time. All competitions, including school related and community based, that have been scheduled within the district between now and Sunday, April 5 are postponed. Most important, however, is our care and concern for the health and safety of our students, their families and our more than 600 employees. Even learning is secondary to the emotional and physical well-being of our children right now. While we have plans to share teacher-based online instructional lessons, do not expect it to be school as usual. Many of our staff members are just trying to take care of their own families and settle into this new norm. We want you to love on your kids, spend time as a family, take walks, play games and reassure them that we are #FalconStrong, and we’ll get through this together. We know you have questions about all the details regarding what this closure means, but our recommendation is to just take one day at a time right now. Trying to figure out long-term decisions can feel overwhelming for many, creating significant anxiety. It also distracts our staff’s time and focus from more immediate and pressing decisions.
Next week our teachers will be communicating with their students and parents through email or phone, just to check in, say hello and encourage them. Teachers will also be working diligently to prepare for online learning and other low tech delivery methods so students can continue with their education while the district is not meeting face to face.We will provide a “grab and go” breakfast 7:30 - 9:00 am and lunch 11:00 am - 12:30 pm for students during weekdays at Lake Dallas Elementary School. No student ID is required and the student can be a member of any of our other campuses, but the student must be present at the time of pickup to receive a meal. Please follow Lake Dallas ISD’s website and social media sites for official school communications and information. You can visit our COVID-19 Website for all the resources we are sharing.Lake Dallas ISD will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation prior to reopening school on Monday, April 6 and will communicate across all platforms as updates become available.Stay safe and well, Falcons!
